Earlier this year we decided to run a fantastic competition about Spy Pups. Last time I was here to talk about it, the details were a surprise because it was all to do with something top secret at the end of Spy Dog: Rocket Rider . . . well, if you haven’t read Rocket Rider yet, look away now, because I’m going to announce the winner – and what the competition was!
At the end of Rocket Rider, LARA becomes a mum!! The adventure-loving Spy Dog was craving banana pizza for the whole book, and we only find out at the very end that it’s because she’s having PUPPIES!
So, the whole idea around the competition was that fans of Spy Dog would have the incredible opportunity to send us in their ideas for what LARA’s two puppies would be called. All we could reveal was that they were one boy and one girl. We had LOADS of entries, and I got to sift through them with Andrew Cope, the author, and his editor Shannon. We were really impressed with the creativity and variety of the names, but in the end there could only be one winner . . .
So CONGRATULATIONS to Darcy aged 9! His choices just seemed to fit the personalities of the puppies just perfectly. STAR, the girl puppy, is a Superbrain (just like her mum) who always has a plan – a real star! Her brother, SPUD, is a little on the dopey side but has special talents of his own (he’s a real master with gadgets). Together, Spud and Star are an unbeatable team. Thanks, Darcy!
A BIG thank you to everyone who entered and remember to look out for Spy Pups: Treasure Quest, their first adventure, which hits the shops today!
