Percy Jackson film

Percy Jackson hits the big screen

It’s not every day we find out one of our favourite boy heroes is becoming a film star, so it was massively exciting to hear that the cast for ‘Percy Jackson’ has been announced. If you haven’t read any of the epic adventures in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series then you’re missing out BIG time, because the Greek Gods are alive and kicking in the 21st century.

Lightning Thief      Sea of Monsters

Shall I tell you a bit about Percy? Percy Jackson didn’t want to be a half-blood. He never asked to be the son of a greek god. But when your dad is Poseidon, God of the Sea, all kinds of crazy, scary and downright rip-roaring incredible things happen to you. Vaporizing his maths teacher? Percy’s done it. Battling two hissing she-devils with fangs? Done that too. Saving his best friend – and the rest of the world from a doomsday monster? Yep, Percy’s been there, done that.

The Percy Jackson series is funny, thrilling and will have you completely hooked from the moment you read page one of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief to when you finish Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth. I love Percy and have an ongoing debate with my boyfriend that Percy Jackson is better than Harry Potter. In fact, when I found out about the film I was poised to forward him the info with a smug ‘Ha! They never made a film about Harry Potter did they?!’ Erm, yes. The answer there would be yes. Several.

But, silly blonde moments aside, this is amazing news and from us all at Puffin HQ, big congratulations to Rick. Who just so happens to be here in the UK on tour and so you’ll be hearing from him very soon . . .
