Angel Cake

We’re writing to you fresh from an amazing two week tour with the one and only Cathy Cassidy! Cathy’s been travelling the length and breadth of the country, talking about her delicious new book ANGEL CAKE - oooh, and giving out lots of real cake along the way . . .
Of course, it seemed only fair that some Puffins got in on the action, and Daisy and I were only too happy to get involved. It all kicked off at Cathy’s first National Best Friend’s Day at Waterstones flagship store in Picadilly, London (the biggest bookshop in Europe!). Here, Cathy handed out the award for ‘My Best Friend Rocks’, with a little help from fab new band Girls Cant’ Catch. They arrived just in time to meet the competition winners and sign Cathy’s Friendship Charter having been on the road supporting Girls Aloud on their massive UK tour. Elsewhere, fans were kept busy with heaps of fun things to do, including friendship quizzes, making Dream Flags, and of course devouring their eagerly-awaited copies of Angel Cake!
Then Cathy travelled to Huddersfield, where a batch of GIGANTIC gingersnap cookies were waiting for her, baked lovingly by some of her fans. From here it was onto Sheffield, Blackpool and Preston (phew!), finally stopping in Liverpool on Saturday. It was one of our most exciting stops, being the city where Angel Cake is set, but nothing could have prepared us for the excitement of meeting the real-life Anya – a young Polish girl who Cathy had met on tour two years ago and who inspired the story of Angel Cake. She was every bit as gorgeous and sweet as the Anya in the book, and it was the perfect end to the week.
Throughout the tour, Cathy has spread the word about how important friendship is for all of us, and that’s something that YOU, her fabulous fans, have proved you know all about. Hundreds of you have already signed up the Friendship Charter, but we’re trying to get a whopping 20,000 signatures, so if you haven’t signed up yet, you can do it here.
